Laws vary from state to state and undertaking family building via surrogacy requires careful consideration of specific legal nuances. Surrogate Concierge has the experience to find the surrogate mother who is the best fit for your family.
We work with all of our surrogate agency partners across the country to find a gestational carrier who is available, meets all health requirements, and is willing to work with you to carry your precious baby.

In what states is surrogacy legal?
The legality of gestational surrogacy changes state by state. Some of this depends on your marital status and whether or not you want to be named as your child's parent before the birth. The laws establishing parental rights vary even within counties, so it's essential that you work with a qualified family formation attorney to assess how current laws apply to your unique situation.
Here are a few examples of states and their laws:
-
California has the most permissible surrogacy laws, allowing intended parents to be listed on the birth certificate
-
Oregon, Idaho, Illinois, and Maryland are among many states where surrogacy is allowed with few restrictions
-
Texas and Florida are among the states that have restrictions based on marital status
All of your surrogacy FAQs answered
A surrogacy search can bring up many questions – some emotional, some financial, and some logistical. At Surrogate Concierge, our case managers take pride in addressing each question thoughtfully. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive about the surrogacy process.
Process FAQs
Surrogate Concierge case managers have 25+ years of experience in the surrogacy search space. Our approach is holistic, empathy-led, and fine-tuned to ensure our intended parents find their perfect match and all the resources they will need along the way. We're experts, and we believe our value lies in our expertise and connections within this field.
Surrogate Concierge has built upon our research over the last 20 years to develop relationships with preferred agencies and other fertility professionals. We vetted all of our agency partners. When we help you with the match, we will share the agency's background information and their process vs. other agency partners. We will review the surrogate's medical records based on your doctor's requirements.
Yes, we can! We have a 'Parent to Parent' program – these are former clients who are willing to connect with you to answer questions about their experience not just with Surrogate Concierge but also with their gestational surrogacy journey. Feel free to ask your case manager about connecting you.
Booking a combination search with us is called a Bundle, and we'll discount the full cost by $500 (rather than having parents pay for separate bookings). We'll start with the egg donor search first, and once your chosen donor cycle has begun, we'll start working on your surrogate search.
Surrogacy FAQs
Over their decades of experience, our Surrogate Concierge team has built deep connections with more than 80 surrogacy agencies, making it easier for us to find intended parents the right surrogates quickly and confidently.
Our team is committed to supporting you as long as you need us to. Within the first few weeks of working together, we will share up to four potential surrogate profiles with you one at a time. You can rest assured that we have reviewed each surrogate candidate's medical records ahead of time and have given our pre-approval. We also ensure that we only share potential surrogates who we are confident will be approved by your clinic.
We are proud to share that we rigorously vet all of our agency partners and have been working with many of them for nearly two decades. We trust them and know you can, too.
Health insurance is a complicated issue. We can't guarantee that we can find a surrogate with surrogacy-friendly insurance. Still, we do have partnerships with many insurance brokers who can review any plans and provide options. We still suggest you set aside part of your budget for insurance coverage ahead of those conversations.
While the fee schedule from the surrogacy agency will likely be based on milestones, you'll be expected to fully fund escrow before the start of the journey. This is for the protection of all involved, particularly the surrogate herself.
We know how excited you are to sift through profiles and find your perfect match, but since qualified surrogate candidates are matched very quickly, we do the leg work of zeroing in on your top choice per available search. Rest easy, though; we use everything we learned about you and what you are looking for in your future surrogate to guide our search. We're also confident that the candidates we present are likely to be approved by your clinic, which is one of the most important goals of matching with a gestational carrier.
